Guns aren't bad, they're dangerous. Particularly in a population that obviously does not have the maturity to manage a 2nd Amendment while, at the same time, being loaded to the gills with guns.
PS - Guns were in my life for a relatively short period of time. But during that time, I proved to be very good with a gun.
Yeah I see what your saying. I watched Sam and Elmer fudd every Saturday morning when I was young. Had a toy rifle of solid wood. I played shooter videogames. I watched violent movies. Had bb gun fights with friends, played paintball and airsoft. Never once thought about killing someone with a gun. Maybe I was raised different then people who commit those crimes maybe not but the mental state of society is the problem.

More likely the problem is that we are a barbarous culture that doesn't have the maturity to manage the firepower we have created for ourselves. And if we were as adult as most of the people from most of the other first world countries, we would have done what they have done. Restrict access to all this firepower until, as a culture, we figure out how to grow the fuck up.
