For the time being, I'll likely be voting Democrat, but that could change in the future if the GOP ever gets its shit together (I may die first) and the Dems go totally off the rails with their squirrelliness.
I'm not that happy with the Dems either, except for Bernie.

As for divided government, that is what we have now. Gridlock and inability to address any issues beyond renaming a post office.

I don't like the two party system. I would like to see coalition government with proportional representation like France has. But we'd have to have some pretty big changes in our current system for that to happen.

Would it work better?

Hell, I don't know, but our current two party system with winner take all elections sucks the big one, so I'd like to try something else.

I wouldn't mind a parliamentary system either, but there's simply no way to get there from where we are. Hell, we can't even get a viable third party.

An aside - My wife, oldest son and I sat in on debates in the British House of Commons in Parliament last week. I've done it several times before and found it both fascinating and entertaining - very civilized and humorous. They were debating the whole refugee issue and still had the capacity to disagree while being very agreeable, in a beautiful setting, no less.

You can't get a viable third party because we have winner take all elections.

Hey, what does Canada have? I want that.

Carly's back in the news, they're calling her a deadbeat for waiting till this year to pay her campaign bills from her failed 2010 Senate campaign against Barbara Boxer.
