Members of Congress from both parties joined retired military leaders and veterans in heaping scorn Wednesday on President Donald Trump’s push to parade soldiers and weaponry down the streets of the nation's capital — calling it a waste of money that would break with democratic traditions.

I think confidence is silent and insecurity is loud,” Sen. John Kennedy, a Louisiana Republican, told reporters in expressing opposition to the idea. “America is the most powerful country in all of human history; you don’t need to show it off.”

"This is definitely not a popular idea," added Paul Rieckhoff, the CEO of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, describing the feedback he is getting from members of the largest group of post-Sept. 11 veterans. "It's overwhelmingly unpopular. Folks from all political backgrounds don't think it is a good use of resources.

“We are very aware of anything that politicizes the military.”

I'm guessing Trump had already contacted Sasha Baron Cohen about buying his outfit from the dictator so he could wear it on the reviewing stand.

Geez I wish the TV news would not allow Sara Suckabee Slanders on the air. She lies as much as her Dear Leader, and she's just disgusting looking. There, I've said it. Sue me.

This column by Dana Milbank is genuinely funny from beginning to end, a tongue in cheek dig at wannabe Emperor Trump.

Trump doesn’t need a parade. He needs a Roman triumph.

Quote:
The obvious purpose of the parade is not to celebrate the troops, as the White House professes, but to celebrate Trump. Hence, his wish to have the parade before the November election (and the military’s wish to have it after). Given the real goal, the model that would best suit Trump has much older roots than a May Day or even a Bastille Day parade. What Trump needs is a Roman triumph.

Veteran's Day works for me.

Apparently the WaPo isn't aware of what Roman triumphs were all about.

You are a party pooper.
Now back to scheduled programming shaming the Dotard:
Quote:
Markets are careening all over the place. Congress is struggling, again, to keep the Capitol open. The White House is at war with the FBI, and the special counsel’s investigation into Russian influence is about to touch off a constitutional crisis. If you’re the president, what’s your next bold move?

A parade, obviously.

Not just any parade. What President Trump has in mind — what he has, in fact, ordered the Pentagon to spend weeks of time and millions of dollars planning, if the fake Washington Post can be trusted — is a garish show of military power, with tanks and missiles followed by warriors in full regalia marching up Pennsylvania Avenue for no apparent reason, except I guess that parades are super-fun and often involve things like cotton candy and sparklers, and that’s a hard thing for a grown man to resist.

Very clever.

Veasey Introduces PARADE Act to Put an End to President Trump's Authoritarian Fantasies
Quote:
Feb 8, 2018
Press Release

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Marc Veasey, ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee’s Tactical Air and Land Subcommittee, introduced H.R. 4980, the Preventing the Allocation of Resources for Absurd Defense Expenditures (PARADE) Act, a bill that would prevent allocating taxpayer dollars on any type of grand military parade requested by the President or the Department of Defense.

Works for me. Especially since much of our defense expenditure is absurd, but Congress won't get this.

Donny: “He says he's innocent, and I think you have to remember that. He said very strongly yesterday that he's innocent, but you'll have to talk to him about that."

Sigh. His ex-wives have said repeatedly that he abused them, and one of them has photos to prove it. Yet this incompetent, lying, misogynistic bastard believes the abuser. He’s beyond disgusting.
