"Until his resignation from office on Thursday, the 49-year-old Diehl had been a hard-charging player in his state’s politics. As the leader of a dominant Republican majority, the speaker was counted as Missouri’s second-most-powerful state politico, next to Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon. Not at all surprisingly, the married father of three has always run as a family values candidate. The Missouri Family Policy Council, an arm of the right-wing evangelical Family Research Council, has praised Diehl “for demonstrating moral leadership and true integrity in standing up for the sacred institution of marriage and the family values of the people of Missouri.” The state’s arm of the Southern Baptist Convention offered thanks to Diehl for “fighting to defend biblical marriage.” LATimes

Like the right has a corner on the hypocrisy market. Like the GOP has a corner on the philandering market. I've pretty much had a gut full of conveniently partisan sexual misadventure posts on this and every other lefty forum where I've been a member.

True enough. OTOH, Democrats don't seem to make a habit of holding themselves up as the high priests of family values.

I don't remember many lefties ramming "hypocrite" down his throat either. I remember "idiot", and "moron" though. I remember Eliot Spitzer being call the same thing by lefties. Pretty innacurate to...he's a smart guy who knows the law. He's just not so hot in the sexual self self-control department. And that's my point bob. So he's a slut. So what? I'd vote for Spitzer for President. He's the one...actually the only one who took on the shyster banksters, when nobody else had the stones. He was Wall St's worst nightmare...and he could be again if the people of this country weren't so phony pious.

Probably because the university recalled all their interns like the state department does to ambassadors, so no more interns to be had.
