Linda McMahon? Seriously?

I live in an interesting state. The upcoming Republican primary will speak volumes. Linda McMahon (yes, the WWE Linda McMahon) is the party endorsed candidate running against former Congressman Chris Shays. Shays, when he was in Congress, was a moderate. Less so now but that's where the party is. McMahon, apart from being a loon, is running a very conservative campaign. Her latest campaign ad promises to 'save the average family $500 a month'. Yeah, I know; it's a campaign promise but $500 a month?

Linda McMahon? Seriously?

Fair question. Let's see:

1) Her background - WWE is about as unsavory an operation as there is. Enabled/encouraged steroid use by the wresters, among other things. Really sleezy operatoin.

2) Her 'job creation' claims - simply growing a business is not creating jobs; it's merely responding to consumer demand. There is a very big difference. Creating jobs entails creating an environment in which jobs are created not merely in one industry but in many.

3) Her political arguments make little sense. Believe me I understand genuine conservatism and don't disagree with some of it. The $500 savings per family per month 'plan' is precisely what I'm talking about. That sounds like a massive tax cut. No one likes taxes but that idea is off the charts.

4) She refuses to sit with the editorial board of any of the newspapers in the state. Why is that? If she's got a message that she wants to get out that is probably the single most credible way of doing it.

That's for starters.

Yeah, but Beej. I'm sure you've heard the battle cry; "AnyLoonie but a Democrat!".

If you think the last four to six years have been interesting......Strap in and hold on tight, Bud. 'Cuz the Crazy Train has yet to leave the station.

I know! Can you actually believe we did that twice?

Who's next, Mel Gibson?
