On screen, Fox News personalities paint a world of clear heroes and villains, where conservatives are always strong and right and liberals are weak and wrong. But the extraordinary private communications revealed in the $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems against Fox show who they really are. Panicked over Donald Trump’s loss in the 2020 election, those same hosts, and the executives who run the network, cowered in abject terror.

They feared the same monster that keeps House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) up at night, the monster that conservative media and Republican politicians created: base voters who are deluded, angry and vengeful...

Like the trembling dissemblers of Fox News, McCarthy must feel that he has no choice: Feed the beast or be eaten by it. Winning the future is an idea they cannot latch on to because they are so frantic to survive one more day.

Republican elites are not powerless. They helped make this mess and could nudge their base back toward reality if they chose. But they’re too afraid to try.

He's talking about you, Whell.

A strong person, man or woman, isn't afraid to admit their mistakes. The Republican elites and leadership are not comprised strong people. As I've said for years they've got two options. Succeed in their takeover of our government or go down in flames into the dustbin of history. Right now they're still involved in the former. Using the adage that all's fair in love and war, they are at war with our democratic republic.

Those Trumpist clowns at NewsMax are also being sued by both Dominion and SmartMatic. Hopefully, the whole right wing angertainment complex (Fox, OANN, NewsMax) will be crushed by these lawsuits.

Why Fox News Lied to the Viewers It ‘Respects’

Fox's market power is built around a social compact, the profound sense in Red America that Fox is "for us." Yet when Fox created this compact, it placed the audience in charge of its content, even to the point of lies, conspiracies, and defamation.

An interesting piece by a life-long conservative.

New Fox/Dominion Documents - Murdoch Deposition

Rupert Murdoch, chairman of the conservative media empire that owns Fox News, acknowledged in a deposition that several hosts for his networks promoted the false narrative that the election in 2020 was stolen from former President Donald J. Trump, court documents released on Monday showed.

“They endorsed,” Mr. Murdoch said under oath in response to direct questions about the hosts Sean Hannity, Jeanine Pirro, Lou Dobbs and Maria Bartiromo, a legal filing by Dominion Voting Systems said. “I would have liked us to be stronger in denouncing it in hindsight.”...

Dominion’s latest filing also described how Paul D. Ryan, a former Republican speaker of the House and current member of the Fox Corporation board of directors, said in his deposition that he had told Mr. Murdoch and Mr. Murdoch’s son Lachlan, the chief executive officer, “Fox News should not be spreading conspiracy theories.” Mr. Ryan suggested that the network pivot and “move on from Donald Trump and stop spouting election lies.”...

Asked by Dominion’s lawyer, Justin Nelson, whether he could have ordered Fox News to keep Trump lawyers like Sidney Powell and Rudolph W. Giuliani off the air, Mr. Murdoch responded: “I could have. But I didn’t.”...

The filing on Monday also included a deposition by Viet Dinh, Fox’s chief legal officer. In his deposition, Mr. Dinh, when asked if Fox executives had an obligation to stop hosts of shows from broadcasting lies, said: “Yes, to prevent and correct known falsehoods.”

I can't wait to hear Whell's defense of these sworn acknowledgements by Fox executives of their deliberate spreading of the Big Lie to the detriment of Dominion and American democracy.

He's busy gathering his "proof" that MSM are the bigger liars. Each and every one That and that he's not among their mindless, numbskull, shit-for-brains audience

Meanwhile what does Murdoch care? He's already made his billions and done the damage he set out to do.
