I have the Snell Type E-III...they came after those really expensive Snell A and Ks from what I remember reading and they were not designed by Peter Snell (who had died earlier). However they sound really great....8 inch woofer with two tweeters one of which fires in the back. Barney has a pair.
they are not fatiguing and have a really nice low end. If you are not careful you could mistake them for a cheap pair of low-end rack Kenwood speakers...you know the type. If you see anything that says Snell on it for a cheap price grab it and run. The weak link is the rotted foam and the woofers are SEAS from Denmark and are expensive used and very expensive if you buy them new from the Snell people ($400 each). And do not try to shim them when you re-foam them.
