I'm experiencing some math torture now. Not knowing why I just walked into a room is fun too. Just standing there though for a moment or two seems to help. Probably because it's a short term memory that's still trying to catch up with me. And a friend who is further along than I told me this memory game just keeps getting better.

Thanks to my Magic Triangle LP journey, I've been receiving many gifts. One was actually real, a pencil sketch done by my brother on Deodato's Prelude's inside the gatefold photo back in the summer of 79 that I saw the other day for the first time. My brother is memory now.

The lost reason to go to a room thing is very very common. You are lucky if you have evaded it before now. The thing is, you start by deciding to walk somewhere in your residence. But you know the way so well that you don't have to think about walking, you mind has virtual subroutines to get you around your house. The subroutine gets you from point A to point B, while your mind is free to think about something else. If that something else uses short term memory, the reason for your walk can get erased.

I lose things all the time because I'll have them in my hand, and I'll need to set them down to use my hand for something else. I believe at that point my mind calls an unconscious subroutine, that I've named 'empty a hand.' It's a dumb routine, it knows nothing about the thing in my hand, or the places it can go, except the most basic physical facts. So it is very likely to put things in odd places I would not consciously choose. Then as it terminates, like any well-designed subroutine, it neatly erases all memory traces of it's activities!

My Last Mulligans

The Concert Jazz Band - Gerry Mulligan

This may even be better than it's reputation. Gerry's a genius. I enter this and Jeru as irrefutable evidence.

Two of a Mind - Mulligan & Desmond

Jim Hall's guitar sits in for the piano. The Gerry/Paul/Jim interplay is magical.

I want a redo.

Today I will play some songs by the famous R&B singer, Lloyd Price.

I just realized from Gary Brooker thread in Off Topic that Lloyd had passed.

My favorite song is "Stagger Lee". It is a New Orleans version of a violent event. Notice the importance given to the saxophone.

Apart from being successful at music, Lloyd did very well in other business endeavors.
