2003 VW Beetle Question

I was offered a 2003 Beetle by a coworker of my wife's for $4,000. She's retiring & never drives it (it's a 2nd car). It's in BEAUTIFUL condition with 75K miles, always garaged of course, but needs a set of tires.
Buy or run?

I think I would. Seems like 75k is when things start to go south.

"For the love of god, stay away from this car."

LOL! Sounds like a '78 Oldsmobile I had.

I don't blame ya, DJ. Run and run far.

I was thinking about leaving it down south so we could go explore with it instead of always having to drive one of the trucks.

Isn't a beetle a Golf with a retro bug dress? Golf IIRC has a very good reputation in Europe for reliability.

I had 2002 Passat and it was one of the best cars I ever had. Comfortable, outstanding fit and finish. Only car I ever had that had no paint defects and VW has the best interiors in it class and better than many cars costing more. It was also reliable. Test drive your beetle it may surprise you. At 75000 miles that car has long was to go. 3500 sounds like a more reasonable price. My son has a 2012 and it's a good car.
