If this plane was highjacked and the responsible parties have not said anything. One could only conclude they want to use it for something with passengers on it, a human shield.

If so, they would probably go for another city: New York skys are too well protected.

If the plane has been hijacked, its use will depend on who's got it. One scenario would be that it was grabbed by Chechen jihadists and will be flown to Russia, the Kremlin or perhaps Putin's new playground in Sochi.

I thought after 9-11 plane hijacking would no longer be possible because passengers would fight back at all costs.

Isn't it possible this thing broke into pieces over the ocean and is lying at the bottom now?

Sure it is.

I wonder whether the Rolls Royce telemetry information will enable investigators to track the plane's movements. The information is probably picked up by a satellite and, if multiple satellites received and recorded the data, it could be triangulated, giving us a course and a location for the last transmission.

If they don't have this capability, they should.

So far Rolls Royce has not confirmed the WSJ story in fact the last I heard on CNN they are right back to square one.

As far as highjacking goes it takes 10,000 feet of runway to land that sucker.

Hello Boreas, ever tried your hand at a novel?

You could fill the void left by Tom Clancy.

Tom Clancy, though a fellow Marylander, is not my cup of tea, far too far out on the right.

Maybe Sir Ian Fleming?

Admit it, you like half nekkid girls dancing under mango trees in your stories.
