Yup....maybe the SYG law needs an "Eye for an Eye" law tacked onto it for cases found to be BS.......

As tragic as this story is, it needs to be kept in sad perspective with what happens in Detroit on a fairly routine basis.

What do you mean, "in perspective?"

Yes, Detroit is crime ridden. So is Chicago and Oakland.
This is a case of an innocent woman seeking help and getting her head blown off for knocking on someone's door.

I don't buy the "accident" crap. I think he was just another idiot who thought the castle doctrine meant he could shoot anyone who stepped foot on his property. I don't know this, but...............

It's another case where there are only two witnesses and one is dead. Sad, very sad.

He tried to invoke the Castle Doctrine.

IIRC, it didn't fly.
I remember that! The guy was a loon, and had signs all over his property saying don't come in the yard iirc.

KGO had a story about Oakland schools getting shot detectors. Great move, those things work well in various spots they are used around here. They also noted that there have been 85 school shootings this year.

Yeah, but the thing was they weren't really on his property, they were on that strip of grass between the sidewalk and the street; public property. So, the "No Trespassing" signage meant nothing.
