Is it all about race?

All you need to do is read the comments section on Newsvine, etc. and you'll see that virulent racism is right at the heart of the absolute hatred many have for the President. The nicknames tell it all:
Obummo
Obammy (particularly egregious, that one)
O'Bama (still can't figure that one out...is he part-Irish, too?)
O'Bammy (racist twist on the previous)
Odumbo (that one is particularly 3rd-gradeish)

Now, his predecessor had a few nicknames as well...but none racist. "Dubya" is the way Bush pronounced "W"...Bush=shrub "Insufferable doorknob" pretty much summed him up for myself.

Waaaay too many on the right would seem to be eager & willing to don the robe & hood these days....don't think I'd want to be black (or any other non-white) if the teabaggers have their way.

Yeah, the left only made fun of Bushes physical deformaties.

But that's OK because he really deserved it.

"Physical deformities"? It's not like Bush was a hunchback or anything...his ears stuck out a bit...but that's about it. His lack of mental acumen was a more serious deficiency.

I didn't realize he had any physical deformities. Honest. When we are talking about the President of the United States, however, there should be no accommodation for mental deficits.

I suppose if the Bush tax cuts expire and create some fiscal sanity, Bush gets credit for that too, because the expiration date was written into the law.

He is doing some things that are pretty different from Bush.

Because he's black.

But you won't catch him mentioning them on the campaign trail

A smirk is a physical deformity??? Pete, do you really have to stretch it that far to get some sympathy for for Bush? Are you really equating that making fun of a smirk is the moral equivalent of race-based humor? Bush was a caricature of himself; those who try to make a caricature of Obama often rely on his race.
