During golf rainout, Trump ‘stewed indoors’ and decided to fire James Comey

Quote:
During that rainy weekend in May, President Trump and Stephen Miller drafted a letter explaining why Comey should be fired, which is now in the procession of special counsel Bob Mueller.

“Mr. McGahn successfully blocked the president from sending the letter to Mr. Comey, which Mr. Trump had composed with Stephen Miller, one of the president’s top political advisers,” The Times explained. “But a copy was given to the deputy attorney general, Rod J. Rosenstein, who then drafted his own letter.”

If Russia hacks Trump Inc. and releases Trump's tax returns, they can have their consulate back.

I imagine more than ever (since January), now that Kelly has introduced some decent management to the place. By which I mean doing productive work as opposed to running in circles or plotting in corners. Not that anything good will come of it. Somewhat less bumbling may actually work out for the worse overall.

Representatives of Facebook told congressional investigators Wednesday that it has discovered it sold ads during the U.S. presidential election to a shadowy Russian company seeking to target voters, according to several people familiar with the company’s findings.

Facebook officials reported that they traced the ad sales, totaling $100,000, to a Russian “troll farm” with a history of pushing pro-Kremlin propaganda, these people said.

From the story:
Quote:
The official added that the ads “were directed at people on Facebook who had expressed interest in subjects explored on those pages, such as LGBT community, black social issues, the Second Amendment, and immigration.”
Their reach with $100,000 was probably about 10,000,000 people, with 500,000 or more likes acting to spread the messages further. If well-targeted, which Facebook affords the easy capability to do (you can isolate target groups very precisely by geography and interests) such efforts can indeed be powerful.

Geez! $100,000! A measly sum buys so much power.

Good to know. Compare all those millions the Clinton team spent.
