What puzzles me is why people like you choose to get upset over a guy silently taking a knee. Life's too short to get upset about stupid shit like this or to be led around by the nose by an unprincipled idiot like Trump. It seems that conservatives are very easy to outrage and they somehow enjoy being outraged at every little thing that the right wing media spews. Lighten up and enjoy life a bit, snowflake.

It's about whatever you want it to be about since you don't like it? You're not the one kneeling, so you DON'T get to decide what it's about.

This country has fallen so far in the last 40 years it no longer deserves the the respect you want to give it so badly because it's no longer the same country. We no longer hold those high ideals, we no longer hold any semblance of moral high ground, and it's mainly because of the right and greed. Those folks that fought so hard for the flag LOST. GET OVER IT. The only people taking away our freedom is ourselves, and we're throwing it away willingly.

I wonder if Whell will get all incensed about this:

After he had repeatedly railed against professional athletes over perceived slights to the American flag and military, President Trump joked on Wednesday about a bugle call that is part of the armed forces’ time-honored tradition of showing respect for the Stars and Stripes.

The bugle call occurred during Trump’s interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, conducted in an airplane hangar used by the Pennsylvania Air National Guard in Harrisburg and before the president’s address on tax revision.

“What a nice sound that is. Are they playing that for you or for me?” Trump said before turning to the audience. “They’re playing that in honor of his ratings,” he added, referencing the popularity of Hannity’s news program.

Trump went back to speaking about economic growth as several audience members behind him stood up. The bugle call was “Retreat,” which signifies the lowering of the American flag on a military installation...

According to the Air Force protocol guide, “During ‘To The Color,’ military members and civilians should render the same customs and courtesies as those given to the playing of the national anthem.”

Trump has a lot of nerve going on about respect for the flag and national anthem when it was him who had to be reminded to put his hand over his heart when the national anthem was played....

How quickly he forgets.

The players have a right to kneel. The owners have a right to fire them. The fans have a right to quit going to the games. Buyers have a right to stop buying stuff from NFL advertisers.

There is no scenario where the NFL players don't lose. And, there is no scenario where anything is gained from it.

All true, but it misses the central point. Your Dear Leader chose to intervene in the player-management relationship of a private business and, in doing so, threatened the livelihood of players while calling them SOB's. In effect, a fellow who sympathizes with White Supremacists challenged their manhood, integrity and livelihoods and they did what they felt they had to do in response to this provocation, resulting in a 2000% increase in the number of players taking a knee.

It's not about patriotism -- it's a distress signal

Always be cautious around people who constantly pronounce their patriotism from the mountain top. They are always the first to suggest that you should storm the machine gun nest first.
