Obama on ISIS:"We don't have a strategy yet".

The President responding to talk that he was going to deal with ISIS in Syria
said "We don't have a strategy yet".

I watched most of the speech and there were many points and explanations made leading up to the quote this writer keyed in on. He put the onus directly on Iraq and it's neighbors to combat ISIL.
The President has one little failing in that he tends to believe that he's dealing with adults in the press corp when he gives these long winded explanations of policy.

Obama is doing the right thing by waiting. Already there is infighting between ISIS and the Al Qaeda sponsored Al Nusra. Yesterday Al Nusra captured the Syrian Golan Heights crossing and they are holding a large number of UN peacekeepers. Is Israel going to jump into the fray? Egypt and UAE have recently bombed Libya. What are they up to?

We expect Obama to make a decision in this confusion? How about the rest of the Arab countries that have strong opposition to ISIS. Shouldn't they step in to this fight? After all it's their land.

Best is to wait and see. There are no friends there except for the Kurds and we are helping them. Rest are either our enemies or looking out for themselves.

"He who hesitates is sometimes saved." Obama is wise in heeding Thurber's advice.

Regarding the Kurds - Right on! BeamOn.

ISIS

basically the ex-Baathists that George Bush disenfranchised with our invasion. These brutal thugs made up the Iraqi Army before we destroyed it and replaced it with the current Iraqi Army that (as you have seen in Mosul) runs from ISIS.

ISIS would probably like nothing more than an U. S. invasion so they can keep their reason for existence going.

However, we may eventually have to do something if the threat goes outside of Iraq and Syria. Maybe the true cost of the "slam dunk."

To get rid of ISIS right now would involve making an alliance with Assad, who has killed hundreds of thousands of Syrians, while at the same time retaking cities like Mosul and Fallujah with ground troops.

Unlike you, most Americans probably do not want what that would cost, and Obama knows this.

Yep. His response was directed at Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Iraq. Namely, you folks have a lot more to lose from ISIS than we do. Get on board.
