I just found out that the Eagles founding member died on July 26th. He had the typical up and down relationships with Frey and Hendly who had long before decided that it was their band. He quit the band in 1977, a few months after a fistfight with Frey. In my humble opinion, Meisner had the most remarkable singing voice of all of them, he did the lead vocal on "Take it to the limit" which he also co-wrote. But Frey and Hendlley decided he was going to be the up vocal range backup singer for the band, with a few rare exceptions. Meisner suffered from depression and probably bipolar disorder. A lifetime of alcohol and drug use contributed to his death from COPD...he was 77 years old.
