I think that about covers it, never mind that this capricious prohibition of equal rights violates the 1st and 14th amendments by imposing alien religious practices under color of law and promotes unequal status in a matter in which that State has no demonstrable interest.

OK then fundie or not...it's the old destruction of the traditional American family system. Well...I got news for 5 below...straight American married couples are doing a fine job of dismantling the traditional American family system all on their own. Gay blame is just another right wing attempt at misdirection.

The traditional American family system is held in extremely high esteem by the American society - which does not mean that in other countries a family has a low appreciation, but America is special, as you all now.

This issue is so fundamental that even a lot of rather liberal Americans have huge problems to get familiar with the idea of the same sex marriage or that those marriages even get the same legal rights like so called normal marriages - for example the adoption of kids in order to become a complete family.

This is of course the point of view from far outside but I suppose that I am not totally wrong.

Chris you would not want to adopt a child here as the adoption laws are screwed up beyond belief. This is why so many Americans adopt abroad.

It is passing strange, Maryland allows same sex marriage, yet my wife has not threatened to leave me, we have not begun to argue, in fact on;y last night she looked at me with such love in her eyes and said I love you, so something must be wrong because was this not supposed to destroy regular marriage?
