"Michigan begins same-sex marriage ceremonies"

Good for Michigan, good for the country.

The Kochs must be very disappointed in their pet governor.

"Money can't buy everything!"

"Unlike most of the judges who recently struck down bans in other states, Friedman did not stay his decision.
His decision was issued late Friday afternoon as clerk’s offices were closing. Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette (R) immediately appealed the decision to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit and asked for a stay.
But at least three county clerks announced Friday night that they would open their offices for special Saturday hours if a stay is not issued. That could set off a rush to marriage like that in Utah, where a judge struck down that state’s ban. More than 1,000 marriages were performed before the Supreme Court issued a stay."

Hat's off to those three county clerks.

Knuckledragger Schuette got a temporary injunction. Oh well, this whole mess is one step closer to being decided once and for all.

HFS man! What'za matter wit' you?
It'll frighten the horses and upset children, not to mention take husbands and fathers away from their families into unspeakable depravity and down the road to hell. It'll be the end of civilization when everybody does it.

I think that about covers it, never mind that this capricious prohibition of equal rights violates the 1st and 14th amendments by imposing alien religious practices under color of law and promotes unequal status in a matter in which that State has no demonstrable interest.
