The Medicare Act provides government sponsored medical care - it is single payer for seniors.

The Affordable Care Act was held hostage by the entrenched interests and became a gift to the insurance industry.

No, I am actually looking to make a point about how far to the right the country has moved in the past 50 years, particularly the Republicans.

In 1965 40% of the Republicans in the Senate voted for the Medicare Act, as did 50% of the Republicans in the House.

https://www.ssa.gov/history/tally65.html

However in 2010, not a single Republican in either the Senate, or the House voted for the ACA.

Right, the ACA is less Soshialist in nature, but far too Soshilist for todays GOP.

It's Obama disfunction disorder that's the problem with the ACA. If, say, Mitt Romney had come up with it-----.
