From what I've heard, the Military do OK these days as far as pay and benefits. Don't get me wrong, I think they deserve to be well paid, and I thank all of them for their service to our country.
That being said, it's a false equivalence to relate fast food workers and their "working poor" status to the Military. Fast food workers, contrary to what I just heard Rob Portman lie about, are adults, mostly in their 20s 30s and 40s, many with children, that just cannot pay their bills. The Repub line on raising the minimum wage is "It will cost jobs".
Bah humbug! What good is a job if it keeps you spinning like a hamster and even though you are working 18 hours a day on 2-3 jobs, you just can't make ends meet.
They should follow the Costco example. A well paid worker is a more productive worker!
