Then there is this, from none other than Faux, the Pravda of the Trump administration.

John Fund: Why did Trump retreat on immigration? It's all about the November elections
Quote:
“Somehow I don’t think that putting kids in cages is likely to go over very well with suburban moms,” Whit Ayres, a Republican pollster, told The Atlantic magazine.
Perhaps it is just the pollsters, or people intentionally lying to the pollsters (as I would if I was polled). Pollsters predicted a Hillary runaway win too, so how can one ever trust them? We do know for sure that there was a worldwide outcry with even bthe Pope chiming in.

Legally speaking, of course the parents are responsible for subjecting their kids to this border separation. Then the next question should be, due to humanitarian considerations, should the children be separated from the parents? Most will answer no. As everyone knows, day care is a lot more expensive than parental care. Look how much it costs the US treasury to provide day care for the Dotard?

Trump has more political sense than for which he is given credit. He had to change the policy, because over time support would wane.

However I believe he knows that the Dems are painting themselves into an
immigration corner.

He has never been a politician and it shows. Trump is good at inciting his base (only because they are force fed disinformation by the fright wing media) and insulting anyone opposing him. And it's not even an act, it's real and scary.

Dems will be better off by letting the immigration fiasco slide and let the public and the media deal with it. Or individual candidates can tailor their message according to their local electorate. Agree that if the Dems wade into this at the national level by the likes of Chuck and Nancy, they will get skewered on this issue by the GOP.

He is unorthodox, and indeed he is scary.

That would be awesome - use the Magnitsky Act, something Trump has tried to undermine to benefit Putin, to punish Trump. Seems altogether appropriate and fitting.

This is an interesting article, nothing definitive but makes some key points.

Quote:
“So we were able to get the financial statements. And they don’t, on their face, show Russian involvement, but what they do show is enormous amounts of capital flowing into these projects from unknown sources and – or at least on paper it says it’s from the Trump Organisation, but it’s hundreds of millions of dollars.

And these golf courses are just, you know, they’re sinks. They don’t actually make any money.

“So if you’re familiar with Donald Trump’s finances and the litigation over whether he’s really a billionaire, you know, there’s good reason to believe he doesn’t have enough money to do this and that he would have had to have outside financial support for these things.
Perhaps Trump can get the Queen to pardon him.
