One would need to be a complete moron to still support Trump at this point. Whell, WTF is wrong with you!? Trump is completely insane, an embarrassment to this great country. He needs to go.

Who here doesn't realize that the push for globalization and free international trade began with GATT shortly after WW2 as a way to create interdependence between the industrialized nations? And that the entire point of this was to avoid a third world war? Of course the wild card at the time was the USSR. Other than that, has there been a 3rd world war in the last 73 years? No.

Moreover, starting in the 1980s (IIRC), outsourcing ramped up as a way to rein in inflation. Was it not? Weren't we told that manufacturing under "lower cost structures" in foreign nations would bring us less inflation in the checkout lanes?

Trump has promised a bunch of angry, disenfranchised manufacturing workers in the Rust Belt their high wage jobs back through what appears to be Nationalistic Isolationism. The very thing that led to serious problems in the last century. He actually jacked up our import tariffs, then demanded everyone else drop theirs.

Hmmm.….. What could possibly go wrong?

Absence of a third world war is mainly due to MAD.

The people who pushed for out sourcing were seeking the cheapest labor possible.

There are angry people all over America (not only in the Rust Belt) who observe our competitors for years not playing fairly. A big example of one such competitor is China.
The trade deficit with that country is now $375 billion. WTF! Furthermore said country is seen gearing up to be a hostile and fearsome competitor.

American workers are often asked to compete against those in areas which have minimalist standards. It is the era of the NWO which additionally push for open borders -- a way for uncontrollable influx of mainly cheap labor.

Trump inherited a bad scene (America in the negative with almost every major trader) and cannot do worst than the previous admins.

John McCain
@SenJohnMcCain
To our allies: bipartisan majorities of Americans remain pro-free trade, pro-globalization & supportive of alliances based on 70 years of shared values. Americans stand with you, even if our president doesn’t.

You’re buying into the Trumpie’s propaganda. Here’s a good overview, from the libertarian Cato Institute, about the myths that politicians push on unsuspecting voters over trade deficits.

https://www.cato.org/publications/co...-trade-deficit

Quote:
Misunderstanding of the trade deficit threatens to undermine the freedom to trade by encouraging faulty and damaging “solutions” to a problem that does not exist. Any attempt to fix the trade deficit through protectionism, export subsidies, or currency manipulation is bound to fail because none of those tools of intervention addresses the underlying causes of the trade deficit. The trade deficit will respond only to changes in a nation’s net flow of foreign investment, which in turn is determined by its underlying rates of savings and investment.
