Voices from the Rust Belt.

An expanded view of a complicated socio-economic story.

The Rust Belt echoes American loss, but it's no cliche.

I can understand the dispossessed wagging the dog. But for Trump?
I mean who believes that MAGA shit anyway? That clown is about to meet with a guy who runs concentration camps and kills his own relatives without a second thought. Plus the moron just put tariffs on metals that are going to add more rust to the belt.

Five years from now the tax cuts for Joe lunch bucket will expire, the deficit will be greater, and the rich will be richer. Hey as long as a woman is not President it's all good...

Lets say the choices were poor and Trump was slicker.

I agree with your economic prognosis, but I do not think the vote was motivated by an anti feminine agenda...the lady had a lot of baggage, her husband included. Many viewed Hillary as a member of a power team.
Her husband meeting/intercepting Loretta Lynch publicly, at a delicate time, reinforced that view.

Former President Clinton, with his sexcapade history, provided a window through which Trump climbed.

An excellent article. Much more than just a book review. More like an essay. A tune to listen to while reading: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZV2jvngnvqg.

The other book mentioned in the article, The Rise and Fall of American Growth sounds very interesting. I'll be checking it out.

And if the next president is a Democrat, it will be all his fault a la January 2009. Remember that? How Obama had
managed to "utterly destroy America" before he had taken the oath? Amazing, isn't it?

And always remember that the bulk of voters, especially in the Upper Midwest, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, etc.......who voted for Trump..……… were Democrats, union people, pissed off about the loss of "good" jobs. So, when these same people blame the Democrats and Unions for their problems...……………………

^^^ TV character Archie Bunker comes to mind. He was funny then but perhaps not that funny now.
