The entrenched views of a bloc of GOP House lawmakers underscored the difficulty of finding consensus, even as President Donald Trump calls for new gun restrictions and the party’s leaders in the Senate seek to advance a narrow proposal bolstering background checks of gun purchasers that has bipartisan support.

“That’s dead on arrival,” Representative Joe Barton, a Texas Republican, said of the stand-alone proposal on background checks. The House approved the measure last year but paired with a requirement permits to carry a concealed firearm be recognized across state line. “We had a promise from leadership that we’d bring both up again, together.”

Of course, all of this proves my point. Mucking around within the political process does absolutely nothing to protect kids NOW from tomorrow's potential school shooter.

You have no point other than pointless nihilism.

That'll drive the wingnuts crazy. Between Delta, United and Dick's they'll soon have to boycott everybody and just stay in their caves fondling their AR-15's.

Another question about guns....
And thank you in advance for being patient with me....

If you have a permit to carry a concealed weapon, do you have to renew that permit on a regular basis or is it good forever?

Thanks again.

Barbara in my state (IN) they offer a life time CCP. All that is required at the time of my issue was a background check and answering questions at the local PD station. Cost was $125 divided into two money orders. One local PD the other state.

No test no classes. My license was issued ten to fifteen years ago.

But now the state is in the process of doing away with the "Life Time" and going to a five year renewable. How that will effect us who have the life time is uncertain.
