Actually, yeh. I just finished a long book on the Eastern Front in WWII and my mind needs a rest.

I read his "Hells Angels" in the mid-1960s out of curiosity and later the RS Fear and Loathing pieces, the hideous Ralph J. Steadman illustrations were an appropriate counterpoint to his surrealistically edgy self-indulgent style as I remember it.

volume II of a very long novel (3500 pages) called In Search Of Lost Time.
Imagine a non-linear fictional autobiography written by French guy about love in late 19th century France. But that is a very, very poor description. The paragraphs are pages long, the sentences that make them up seem longer...but it is not boring. To me anyway.

The author died at age 51 before he could finish revising the final version...it was released in a series of seven volumes. A Scottish author named Moncreith translated most of it for the English world before he died at the young age of 40.


It has to be read to be understood.
