No, it isn't. Apparently, Wyoming and Alaska are the two most depressing states in the country. Numbers 1 and 2 on the list. People go there, feel hopeless, trapped and ultimately whack themselves. Also interesting to note is the fact that whites, by far, are the most suicidal and the preferred method seems to be death by firearm. I wonder what the suicide ratio by political beliefs would be?

I think there have been quite a few studies showing a link between suicide rates and latitude. The less sun you get the more you're susceptible to depression and suicide.

Good point. The results may be skewed as it's unlikely they did a phone interview with anyone who committed suicide.
If we could get a world government up and running, we could pass a law making it illegal to reside north of a certain latitude. Think of the lives that could be saved!
Uh... wait a minute... overpopulation....
Ok, a law that everyone must move north!

I don't know. Somewhere further south, somewhere where the water's warm, the drinks are cold, and I don't know the names of the players.

This will surprise you then John since it runs North-South including AK.

Not meant to challenge your observation in anyway. I too was quite surprised.

High seasonal affective disorder in those latitudes. It's August Mildred, time to break out the full spectrum light board.
