BS. If Israel hadn't been attacked by the coalition of Arab states and Palestinians as soon as the ink on the partition agreement cooled, Israel probably would never have had cause to kick their asses out and create the "breathing room".

The Nazis took the offensive in WWII. Israel has been under attack from the moment of its inception. That's the critical difference - and one that I'm sure you'll go out of your way to ignore.

And this somehow justifies their rampant construction of illegal settlements in the West Bank? Until you've seen it with your own eyes, you have no clue.

I agree that's a problem. However they will never, never give up Jerusalem anyway from what I've seen.

Pete
The land appropriated by the Israelis around Jerusalem is a very small percentage of the land they've illegally seized on the West Bank, Pete. Probably less than 1%. Do a Google Images search on Israeli settlements in the West Bank. Most Americans are absolutely clueless about how much land Israel continues to seize on a daily basis there. Meanwhile, believe it or not, there's quite a bit of vacant land in Israel, even for a small country, except on the coast between Tel Aviv and Haifa.

That does surprise me.

Israel is about 8,000 square miles in area and has about 8 million people.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel

That's pretty close to what New Jersey has.

I've never been to Israel, but I have been to New Jersey and it's pretty damned crowded to me.

Both have quite a bit of open space. From the pine barrens to the Delaware Water Gap, there's lot of open space in New Jersey. As for Israel, there's virtually no population in Israel south of Beer Sheva (other than Eilat way down south) and a fair amount of open space in the hills between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem as well as in the Galilee. The dense population is from Tel Aviv to Haifa plus the Jerusalem area. Everything else is not particularly densely populated.

Well when you drive people off their land at gunpoint and take it for yourself that will sometimes happen. That's the critical difference - and one that I'm sure you'll go out of your way to ignore.

While we're at it, let's not forget the attack on the USS Liberty.
