Couldn't resist.
BTW, I use old extension cords, and they seem to work quite well.

That is what Roger Russel, speaker designer for McIntosh, said years ago. Now that McIntosh sells cables I think they have changed their minds.

After I had a loose banana plug fry my old Marantz I switched to locking bananas.
One thing I noticed, I placed a little pebble on top of my amp. As I move it around it changes the sound!
Amazing. If anyone wants one let me know, I think I can reproduce them for $1,397.31 each.
Plus shipping and handling.

I can cut some wood blocks with a v cut on top to hold your cables off the floor. $25 each is a bargain. Then you can isolate your gear with neoprene covered cork. Commonly used to isolate commercial AC systems. I could make a grand of of one sheet of that stuff.

Funny thing about investing a fortune in the AC supply to audio equipment. About all that matters is that the AC supply is in the correct voltage range. Once it enters the unit it is transformed to DC voltage and then is filtered with capacitors. You can replace that $8000 dollar IEC power cord with an $8 lamp cord and achieve the same results.

I had a new tech convinced I could smell a bad fuse. It was a big ceramic body fuse, so no visual indication when they pop, but I had seen this system pop this fuse many times and the tech didn't know that.
I simply started pulling fuses and sniffing them, until I got to the one I knew was bad. Sniffed it, and said "Yep, this one's bad".
He verified my diagnosis with his meter, then walked around with this dazed look on his face the rest of the day. After some time passed and it failed a few times on his watch, he realized he'd been had.

But your ears are not qualified to make such blanket judgements. That 6 foot cord has a significant impact hooked on the end of that 100 ft of Romex.

Get one of those ferrite gizmos to clamp over the cord.
