Not an apt comparison, really. In the "cake" case, the state was actually attempting compel an individual to act in a way that was inconsistent with their religious convictions. In fact, in the cake case, the SCOTUS observed that members of the CO Civil Rights commission made comments that reflected religious bias / animosity.

So, the more amp comparison in the cake case would be denying an individual the right to religious expression, such as the Jesuits Act 1584, where the crown told Catholics to leave the country or face charges of treason.
