I don't hate them, they are useful, but they can be annoying when you don't want to be bothered. I remember a girlfriend, Sabrina, whose mother had the uncanny ability to know exactly when to call................  . Eventually I found ways to get into her bag and shut the damn thing off, when I could.

What was once a symbol of the user's supposed importance, has now become a mere tether. Those that do not carry one have become the ones with status in many circles. Once exclusivity is gone, so goes the status associated with that exclusivity.
