One of the main points of the "Fair Tax" is that it would remove the power from elected officials to play with tax breaks or tax incentives for any special group or class of people. There would be no tax brackets or deductions for this, that, or the other thing. This is also the biggest (IMHO) problem with getting it passed. Washington would have to give up so much power that it is extremely hard to get anyone there to agree to it. If we could all agree to support it or vote against those who don't support it the power structure in this country would revert back to the citizens, where it belongs.
