Agreed. At the time of the founding, the abomination that was slavery was well accepted around the world. And that included the enslavement of those sub-human black Africans. People like Washington and in particular Jefferson, decided that the nation would be established with the abomination in place. The catastrophe of the Civil War is on the hands of Washington, Jefferson and the rest of the founding slave owners.
We don't want to erase the past. But there are significant parts of the history of this country that should no longer be celebrated...that should never have been celebrated in the first place.
R.E. Lee, and the rest of the surviving Confederate high command, along with Jefferson Davis, should have been hanged.
