And yes, I have had the pleasure of listening to the voice of Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, I have a 1957 mono LP of him, entitled "Hugo Wolf Lieder." Picked it up at a thrift store without knowing what it was. Wonderful finds like this are why I do that!

She is unforgettable.
Fischer-Dieskau is still the most famous and best Hugo Wolf vocalist. But he is also a brilliant interpreter of the Bach solo cantatas BWV 56 and BWV 82 and of countless Bach arias. Look into this face! He was such a great artiist but he always remained very very modest and kind. He was a fantastic ambassador of the new post war Germany already around 1950. Unfortunately he passed away some years ago...
