A lot of Ellicott City is one high ground, but the old town (an old mill town, I think) is down in a valley with a creek running right through it. I'm not sure if they'll ever fully rebuild after the two floods they experienced in the past two years. Too bad. The old town was quite attractive and full of restaurants, bars and breweries.
