It was '73-74, Chemistry II in high school. I had one of the early boomboxes, a cassette player with detachable speakers. We played tapes whenever we had lab work to do. A couple of the big hits were ELP's Pictures at an Exhibition (ELP's version, anyway - not meaning to steal Mussorgsky's thunder) and Tomita's version of that and of Snowflakes are Dancing. Also sneaked in some Allman Brothers and Who. This was a teacher who was really effective at communicating the subject matter, but did not get all uptight about decorum.
Regards,
D-Ray
