But Hispanic citizens are fairly sure not to like being lumped in with MS-13. However clear it may be to you that Trump's 'animals' comment referred to MS-13 types, he didn't mention MS-13 at the time. He just mentioned "people coming in."
Likewise, the context of the remarks was a proposal to let law enforcement call ICE when they
suspected a person in custody was MI-13 (they currently
have the authority to call ICE when a convicted MS-13 member is arrested). Many Hispanics understand that suspicion can be very easily attached to superficial appearances.
And when you get down to it, I agree with Pelosi that 'calling people animals is not a good thing,' even in the case of depraved hyper-violent MI-13 members. Stripping any persons of their humanity opens the way to saying they have no rights, and may be slaughtered like animals. The danger of such talk cannot be overstated.
