I'm thinking all of the above.
For the majority of folks, it was 2, 3, & 4, but for some, I'm sure no. 1 kicked in. Something to add to that list is that Newt has owned up to his sins, and Cain's inconsistent denials made him appear dishonest. Personally, I had no interest in him before any of the allegations hit. I was kind of sorry to see him fall out of front-runner status, though, because he epitomized the farce that is the GOP field.
