Yes, sometimes. But the extremists don't say "we must make government less profligate and opaque." They rail against income redistribution, and taxation in general, with no specificity as to 'good spending' and 'bad spending.' They act to decrease taxes on the rich, the personal and corporate income taxes. They act to increase taxes on the poor and middle class, the social security and medicare payroll taxes. The right wing 'populists' are creatures of the rich.
