Blacks still need to try and help themselves. Too many of them operate without an understanding of what is required to move up.

In New York City there are some public schools which are great for upward social mobility.

A Chinese just off the boat knows about these schools and what his/her kid needs to enter any of these schools.

Blacks on the whole are less informed and disciplined. So when it is entry testing time their kids are less prepared. In the world of STEM they are hardly making a mark. Mayor DeBlasio has tried to help them by attempting re-configuring the entry requirements.

As society rewards more and more those who are in Finance, Technology and Science, Blacks and Hispanics will find themselves pushed out of thriving Urban centers. It is happening in New York City.

I spent some time in Central Florida and had a look at what the working class is up against in another scenario. A worker needs a car for most working situations and if that worker gets $12/hr that worker is lucky. So I noticed many doing two jobs and working six/seven days a week. (The linked article mentioned the transportation issue.)
