Adidas and Ye. Well...then f**k Adidas and the horse they rode in on.

So Adidas finally terminated their deal with Kanye West. And all is supposed to be forgiven?

Quote:

The success of the Yeezy releases showed that some customers may no longer closely associate the star with the brand they love, and many do not care about his behavior, said Matt Powell, a sports retailer consultant. “You still have a real loyal Yeezy fan club out there.”

In a podcast interview last month, Adidas’s chief executive, Bjorn Gulden, praised Mr. West’s creativity and lamented how the partnership — “one of the most successful collabs in history” — ended.

“Very unfortunate,” Mr. Gulden said, “because I don’t think he meant what he said.”

Kanye and Adidas: Money, Misconduct and the Price of Appeasement

The opinion is way too long, it could have all been said in one sentence...

Kanye West is a sick asshole...and after way too fucking long, Adidas finally decided that marketing does not trump decency."

Do we need paragraph after paragraph of reports on West's fucked up behavior? We know he's an asshole. But if we want to get a sense of the limited ethics of the worldwide corporate world...check it out.

IMO there's something unusual about someone that buys a product because some celeb endorses it. I also think it's silly to buy garments, shoes, etc. with some brand/designer's name emblazoned across it. Paying good money to be a walking billboard I call it.
That being said Adidas based their decision on their bottom line. First by endorsing "Ye" and later by kicking him to the curb. No surprise there.

There's this scene in the great documentary "Crumb" where Robert Crumb is walking down the street in San Francisco bemoaning "Why would anybody wear a hat or a shirt with advertising on it?" It appears to be one of the primary reasons Crumb and Aline moved to France in 1991.
