Conservatives the world around have taken on an authoritarian air, it seems.

All across the world the rise of authoritarianism over democracies and republics seem to be the norm.

Saw a report that the Israeli Speaker resigned.

Yes, saw that - he gavelled the session closed, then resigned without allowing a vote on his replacement. :mad:

And now Benny Gantz (Bibi's primary opponent in the election) has now been named Speaker of the House in a quasi unity government with Bibi. Crazy shit.

FWIW, our oldest son lives and works in Israel managing the country's construction program that is financed by the USA under the Foreign Military Sales program. He's the Resident Engineer for the northern half of the country. His work has been very complicated lately due to coronavirus and conflicting guidance/priorities of the Israeli Ministries of Defense and Health, State, DoD and his agency headquarters in Wiesbaden, Germany. Fun times in the land of milk and honey.

I tend to think we chose to look the other way.

The battle going on globally is not conservatives vs liberals.

It's globalists vs nationalists. That is what's behind Brexit.
