A Contest ?
 

Since we are still very new and need some more opinions around here how about a contest. The person who drives the most new members after say two weeks wins a prize.

No ones up for a contest.

In which direction would you drive them? OK I know. Smart arse comment but it was an open goal; besides which it's Sunday morning, everyone else in the house is still asleep so I have the computer to myself. Hmmmm. Let me see; I wonder what I can find if I look real hard:D

Going by the howles of protest when the AK political forum folded, I reckon this place will grow of it's own accord. Problem is how to let people know it's here. If there's not one already, I'm going to stick a post on the AK General Off Topic Forums with a link to here. Be interesting to see how long it takes before it gets jumped on.

I think this site would be better served if we could bring in some traffic that is not AK related.

Not a bad idea, but:

Every other forum on which I am a member specifically forbids soliciting members to go elsewhere, such as here.

If I try to drum up new members on other forums, either via signatures, blatant posts or PMs, I'll get hit with a ban hammer.

Yeah, what Tom said...I'd LOVE to invite the "Wack-Pack" from Grouchy Old Cripple over here, but I'm pretty sure it'd be frowned upon...

Just want to be clear. I am not asking anyone to break other forums rules. Sure on AK we do not allow owners of other boards to do drive bys but we always encouraged members to pass along web sites that are of interest to them.

I completely understand this.:) The first thing that popped into my mind was plugging PC on my other forums, and then I remembered their rules.

I'll check again and see if there are workarounds or loopholes, and PM a few mods and admins.
