"Best Of's" Lists

I was in the library yesterday and there was Rolling Stone and it's ranking of all 141 cast members of Saturday Night. And I was immediately reminded of the stupidity of all such lists.

Gilda Radner #9. My ass. Maybe #2 behind Belushi...but probably not.

So, what you're saying is your list wouldn't be stupid; it would be right?

I guess it is me because I am old but it was never the same after the Original Not Ready For Prime Players left .

There certainly have been some really terrific individual players since the first batch but, as far as an ensemble cast is concerned, I don't think there was ever one as good as the first.

That being said, the first group did have a few forgettable people in it. Garrett Morris and Laraine Newman come to mind, maybe Jane Curtin too..... and maybe someone I've forgotten. ;)

I never thought those guys were forgettable....straight comics are essential. I always loved the (Cuban?) baseball player Morris did....Chico Escuela. I loved Lorraine Newman too.:)

His list would be right.....to him.

Mine would be right.....to me.

Yours would be right.....to you.

And that, friends, is why criticizing "Best of" lists is.... um.... stupid. :) We all have our tastes and preferences. Nobody's right and nobody's wrong.

Gilda Radner was canonized due to her death.

She should barely break the Top Ten: if you include Chevy.

Gotta love Eddie Murphy too.
