Cheney speaks

I have never in all my years heard such a divisive speech.

merrylander 05-21-2009 11:14 AM

Why waste time listening to him, he speaks with forked tongue.

This particular speech was "special."

Seriously, why does or why should anyone give a crap what he thinks any longer? I know I don't.

He's no longer the vice president. He's a private citizen now. STFU, sir.

Veeps are usually pretty much Nincompoops. The last one who wasn't, IMHO, was Truman, & he was pretty much universally despised in his term...

Cheney

I always kind of liked Cheney. What little of him I've watched, he always called 'em like he saw 'em. And if asked a question he didn't want to answer, instead of mealy mouthing around, he just said he wasn't going to answer.

A couple of others I like are Dennis Kuchnich? and Bernie Sanders. Kuchnich is an engaging conversationalist, and appears quite bright. Besides, he's somewhat of a babe magnet...gotta give him credit.

Sanders, to his credit, may be the most honest person on the Hill. He actually had the balls to run as a Socialist.

Sandy, I would like to thank you for bring up one of my all time favorite politicians...Harry S. Truman.

Being a fellow Missourian, he scores a few points just for that...at least in my eyes. As a kid, he used to go to the renuions of the former Missouri Confederate Guerrilla's...you know, the Quantrill, James, Younger, "Bloody Bill" crowd. I'll bet he met some interesting characters there.

And any politician who not only goes to bed, but goes to sleep on election night, is my kind of guy. That tells me that he really didn't care if he had the job, or not.

Not to mention, he fired MacArthur. Which shows that he didn't play "go along to get along".

MacArthur supposedly said afterward, "The little SOB had the guts to fire me, and I like him".

Yeah, I think the pressies & "The Intelligencia" hated Truman almost as much as they hated Bush & Cheney..."To err is Truman" & other such jibes come to mind. But looking back at him from a vantage point of 60 years, yeah, the guy had guts. He canned MacArthur's butt, he integrated the Armed Forces, & he held the country together in the immediate post-war era, & kept MOST of the rampant inflation at bay...Plus, for better or worse, HE made the decision to drop the bombs on Japan which ended the war, & prolly ultimately saved a LOT of lives-Ours AND theirs. I doubt if I'd be here, as my dad would have been drafted in '46 for the invasion of the Japanese home islands, & they were expecting something on the order of at least a million-million & a half casualties...

You know Sandy, you're right. Truman made the hard choices, and didn't try to act like one of his minions made them while he wasn't looking.

Personally, I think Bush is a lot like Truman, made some hard choices, stuck by his people when they were drawing flack. As far as I'm concerned, he showed a lot of character for a politician.

Now I realize that my last statement has pretty much confirmed my status as a buck toothed, cabbage headed cretin, but what the hell...I'm just celebrating diversity.

I gotta be me,
Chas
