I saw that segment last year. Cool stuff. It home as my daughter is a biomedical engineer specializing in biomechanics, though she's now working on cardiac implant devices and pacemakers.

I have to show this to my 13 yr grand daughter; just yesterday she was writing a report on artificial limbs.

My Dad lost his right leg just below the knee in an industrial accident before WW I. The odd coincidence is that his prosthesis came from the J.E Hanger company here in Maryland.
