Mass shootings in times of Covid

As far as I remember there has been no mass shooting in 2020 in the United States - at least until now. I do not want to be cynical, but in this context the virus might have a positive effect on the health of the society.

Do you also think that the Pandemic has an impact on mass shootings (and similar crimes)?

Not enough people in one spot for a shooter to get their thrill.

There's no known pattern to mass shootings in the USA.

No correlation to the pandemic, IMHO.

Except at the tRump super spreader events. But then the usual types who commit mass shootings are busy getting their thrill on at those meetings.

Time to resurrect this thread. Another mass shooting, this one very close to our company in Santa Clara/San Jose border. At a VTA (light rail) maintenance yard which borders I-880 on the northern edge of San Jose. Eight people killed including the gunman (self inflicted?), who first set fire to his house before proceeding to the rail yard.

Some loon on Faux News*, a former detective, went on air and insinuated the rash of mass shootings was because of vaccinations

These sorts of comments always bother me. Fox news is not run by loons, but by clever people who put forth loony ideas knowing they are loony, with cynical propagandistic intent. The detective, I'm virtually certain, did not make up that looniness himself.

What does the GQp's gain by discouraging vaccinations? It was reported today in WaPo that in several states, rate of infection is at the same level for un-vaccinated people as it was nationwide in January and the national decline in Covid-19 infections is masking this very fact. Also this allows for new and more potent variants to take hold among the un-vaccinated as in Oregon.

I think it come down to T. The Naranja "agria" Nazi's bleatings about Covid being a hoax, etc. and unspoken policy of herd immunity. Accepting vaccinations is admitting fatass was wrong and that the virus is indeed dangerous just like the Democrats who listened to the scientists said it was. Worse than admitting that they were wrong is saying, even implying, that Donny Dotard was wrong. If you have no morals, scruples or honor once you start lying you can't take it back.
