Rightwing Terrorist Attack in Christchurch, New Zealand

49 dead. :(

Words fail.

At today's signing of the veto

REPORTER: “Do you see today white nationalism as a rising threat around the world?”

TRUMP: “I don’t really. I think it’s a small group of people that have very, very serious problems. I guess if you look at what happened in New Zealand perhaps that’s the case. I don’t know enough about it yet. They’re just learning about the person and the people involved. But it’s certainly a terrible thing, a terrible thing.”

And then he goes on to call what is occurring at our southern border "an invasion," the exact words the NZ (and Pittsburgh mosque murderer) used.

Meanwhile, Rush Limbaugh blamed the NZ murders on a leftist trying to smear his political enemies.

^^^ Yet another FALSE FLAG OPERATION, according to Limbaugh.

Very handy trope, the 'false flag' thing. Call it and you can blame anything on anyone you want (and of course exonerate anyone you want). Of course using it marks you as a full-on conspiracy monger....

Trump Uses Same Rhetoric As New Zealand Shooting Suspect After Condemning His Actions

The president condemned the mass shooting at two mosques in Christchurch — then used language similar to the suspected shooter’s to describe immigrants.

But of course he did. Sigh.

Gonna be interesting and enlightening to see how New Zealand and Australia combat this terrorists threat.

Doubt it will be by adding more guns into the mix....

Dondilion 03-16-2019 07:49 AM

And what does the terrorist give as his reason?

donquixote99 03-16-2019 08:17 AM

The implicit reason is that he admired world-class killers and wanted to be one too. I understand he had the names of other killers on at least one of his weapons.

Basically, the idea of hurting his 'enemies' all he could was attractive to him. So attractive that he acted in disordered ways to do it. His identification of innocent mosque-goers as enemies was delusional--applying the term 'invaders' to immigrants, as he did, is a ridiculous distortion. His value-system that glorified killing, and discounted all norms of normal social behavior, was badly warped.

Ignorance and hated then add in some failures along the way, wrongly placed at "others" rather then themselves.
Be my guess as this seems to be a common profile of a terrorist worldwide.

Nobody started a thread on this topic at AudioKarma and I think that is a good way to deal with it. But I respect your decision to start one over here, Bob.

However - since I was raised with the language of love, I will never ever understand the language of hatred.

There is a thread at AK by a former NZ resident member. However, here at PC is a good place for in depth discussion.

"New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced Wednesday that the country would ban the sale of all assault rifles and semi-automatic guns, less than a week after a shooter opened fire at two mosques in Christchurch, killing 50 people.

"Today I am announcing that New Zealand will ban all military-style semi-automatic weapons. We will also ban all assault rifles," Ardern said at a press conference, according to The Guardian.

"We will ban all high-capacity magazines. We will ban all parts with the ability to convert semi-automatic or any other type of firearm into a military-style semi-automatic weapon. We will ban parts that cause a firearm to generate semi-automatic, automatic or close to automatic gunfire," she continued." The Hill

Smart folk, those New Zealanders.
