Anyone wanna take bets . .
that if the Republicans gain a majority in either house, the employers will suddenly let go of all of that cash they have been hoarding, and the GOP will take credit for the increase in employment. Never mind that the stimulus program put much of that money in the companies' pockets.

Of course, the GOP will take credit when the economy inevitably gets turned around (with or without their help). That much I'm certain of. It's the idea of business sitting on their cash until the GOP takes over the House that I'm skeptical about. They'll spend when they figure they'll make money from doing so (as it should be IMHO).

I tend to lean more towards what Finn is saying these days. But, then again, hoarding due to uncertainty in the economy can be tied in, if they believe a GOP house will mean they get to keep their Bush era tax cut.

BTW, we are now a third world country, BMW is going to build cars in SC (Senator Demented's stomping grounds) because they can pay people $15 per hour, half of what their German workers get, the freetraders have finally achieved their goal. |
If the employers release their funds, it will show that the uncertainty came from not knowing what the government is planning under the Dems.
And it's the Dems own fault. I don't think I've ever heard such business bashing in my lifetime. Class warfare rhetoric doesn't help anyone. Pete |

Business' allegiance is to the bottom line. If they think investing/hiring will improve their bottom line, they'll do it. If not, they won't. The question is whether they think a change in the House will materially impact their bottom line. Some might, others won't.
I'd be thrilled if the economy miraculously goes gangbusters after the election. You can't change the fact that both parties will claim credit or assign blame. But if people get back to work, we'll be better off for it. |

I will have to disagree with you on one point, though, Pete. I think their own behaviour brings it on and they bear sole blame. The Dems just have the audacity to say what others won't. Dave |
Talk about growing the economy by hamstringing business? :p

When you cut the greediest people on the planet loose to do as they damn well please, what do you think is going to happen? Think their going to start showering the rest of us with gobs of cash? Please. This makes no sense. I tend to think they're going to screw us out of every last penny they can get their hands on, and then beg, borrow or steal to get even more. All the while trying to make us feel guilty for getting in their way. This is why they want the regulators and unions out of the way, and why "the love of money" is evil (As your Bible tells you.).----Because greed is never satisfied, it keeps going until only the most ruthless among us have everything and we end up fighting over their table scraps. I don't understand how you can see it any other way. Dave |

Really? I wish someone had told me of my elite standing much sooner. I sure as hell wouldn't still be turning a wrench, you can bet your ass on that.
I'm part of "the ruling class" because I've seen how easily people are manipulated with quasi-religious flagwaiving horseshit, lying amateur historians feeding them loads of crap and convincing them that they "Hate America" if they don't follow the flock, propagandists scaring them with visions of Gestapo stormtroopers kicking their doors in................... Please. Go "Teabag for Jesus" and spare me your BS. Dave |

I did not know the name of some NASCR driver, well whoopee shit, other questions of a similar ilk. Gee, are the only two choices elite or redneck? How about a conservative free thinker with as Poirot would say some of those 'little grey cells'. |

If my company were given any stimulus money, they'd go out and buy a yacht for upper management to go deep sea fishing on. And then claim they have no money for maintenance.
I had an interesting conversation with one of the supervisors yesterday. "We now have a President, COO, CFO, Senior Vice President, Seven, count'em, SEVEN Vice Presidents, four Directors who used to be managers, four new managers to replace the ones who are now directors, an "Efficiency Director" who has a "Six-Sigma Blackbelt Efficiency expert" and two assistants working for him, a total of twelve supervisors and that's just the manufacturing side. We also have a Director of Human resources, a Human Resources Manager and an assitant for each. Then there's accounting........ We have a grand total of 150 hourly emloyees, nation wide." Dave |
