Or John W Campbell the editor or Astounding Stories?

I hope after all that mythology, one could discern the real deal.

Campbell's point, I think, is that mythology is the real deal.

What I take from him and others is that myth is what gives life it's meaning. Which works both ways--iif you've got something that gives your life meaning, it is myth.
