"Gov. Jerry Brown’s $27.8 billion “wall of debt” was only part of the state’s official debt that the report put at $132.6 billion. Much of the state’s debt comes from general obligation bonds — funds for public works — totaling $73.1 billion, unemployment insurance loans totaling $10.9 billion, and lease-revenue bonds totaling $11.3 billion." |
Right, but you still have to have money coming in to be able to pay back all of that debt. Much of a state's income comes from personal and property tax revenues. California's population isn't growing like it used to.
What opportunities has Michigan "frittered away"? |

It appears to me from a couple thousand miles away that politics in Lansing have started to mirror the lunacy of the do nothing/know nothing congress in Washington. There's a cancer in the body politic, no one from the right side of the aisle seems to give a crap about the working stiffs who generated the overwhelming majority of tax revenues. We can't grow and prosper on minimum wage jobs. Just my two cents. |

The reasons could be considered inevitable but are well known. I still do not quite understand why GM closed Saturn. |

http://blogs.sacbee.com/capitolalert...l-economy.html California has a huge diversified economy compared to most states. Controlling the spending by the state house has been the problem racking up deficits like Detroit. But CA has the revenue stream that most nations do not. Rounding off to five cents since we can afford it. :) |

I've been springing for coffee for any boys in blue that I find at 7/11 for years. It's the least I can do to show my appreciation for them doing a good job. It's even more fun when my hair is getting a little long...damn smartassed hippie.;):D |
The last cop I talked to had 'sleeves', the full arm tattoos.
